The S1-400 is a compact short-range 1D Time-of-Flight (ToF) laser distance sensor module developed for embedded distance detection and proximity sensing applications. It is designed to deliver fast, stable, and reliable distance measurements in real-world environments where ambient light, dust, and electrical noise are present.

Using a 940 nm invisible infrared laser, the S1-400 meets Class 1 eye-safety requirements, allowing safe continuous operation in human-interactive scenarios such as service robots, smart appliances, and access-controlled systems. Its high-speed response of up to 30 Hz enables accurate detection of moving objects, making it well suited for AGV obstacle avoidance and dynamic proximity monitoring.

The sensor integrates the transmitter and receiver optics into a highly compact PCB module, enabling easy hidden installation inside space-constrained devices. Advanced optical filtering and calibration algorithms suppress sunlight interference and automatically compensate for dust or contamination on the optical window, reducing false readings and maintenance requirements.

With low power consumption below 0.2 W and a flexible 3.3–5 V power supply, the S1-400 can be easily integrated into battery-powered or energy-sensitive systems. The TTL UART output interface, combined with Modbus RTU / ASCII protocols, ensures straightforward communication with MCUs, controllers, and embedded platforms.

Thanks to its robust design, wide temperature range, and strong environmental adaptability, the S1-400 is widely used in AGV and robot obstacle detection, human presence sensing, occupancy monitoring, projector auto-focus triggering, smart waste bin level detection, and general industrial distance and position sensing applications.
